ABK-Egypt's retail banking sector achieves strong performance during Q1-2025

Retail banking sector at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait - Egypt achieved outstanding performance during the first quarter of 2025, and this comes as a result of an increase in its retail loan portfolio with a growth rate of 11.8%, reaching EGP 25.60 bn by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 22.90 bn by the end of 2024, achieving an increase of EGP 2.69 bn.

This is due to an increase in the bank’s personal loan portfolio by 11.7%, with an increase of EGP 2.58 bn during the first quarter of this year, to record EGP 24.61 bn by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 22.03 bn by the end of 2024, and to account for 96.1% of the total retail loan portfolio by the end of last March.

The credit card portfolio increased by 13.4% during the first quarter of this year, recording EGP 978 mn at the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 862 mn at the end of 2024, while debit current account balances recorded EGP 13 mn at the end of last March.

It is worth noting that the individual loan portfolio constituted 34.1% of the bank’s total customer loan portfolio at the end of last March, which increased at a growth rate of 8.5% and an increase of EGP 5.88 bn during the first quarter of this year, to record EGP 74.98 bn at the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 69.09 bn by the end of 2024.

Retail deposits increased by 17.8% during the first quarter of 2025 and recorded 39.98 billion pounds In terms of the size of the individual deposit portfolio at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait - Egypt, it witnessed a growth rate of 17.8% during the first quarter of this year, achieving an increase of 6.05 billion pounds, reaching 39.98 billion pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 33.93 billion pounds by the end of 2024.

Retail deposit portfolio received 29.8% of the bank’s total customer deposit portfolio, which amounted to about 134.12 billion pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 119.89 billion by the end of 2024, rising by 11.9% and achieving an increase of 14.24 billion pounds during the first quarter of this year.
