QNB-Egypt, ADIB-Egypt, and ABK-Egypt Lead Foreign Banks in Personal loans Portfolios Expansion Over the Last 3 Years

QNB-Egypt Tops the List of Foreign Banks with a Personal loans Portfolio Expansion of EGP 21.91 billion; ADIB-Egypt Secures Second Place with EGP 13.30 billion

ABK-Egypt ranked third with an increase of EGP 13.09 billion, while Al Baraka and FABMISR claimed the fourth and fifth spots, with increases of EGP 10.29 billion and EGP 8.78 billion, respectively.

First Bank’s index of foreign banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector revealed that Qatar National Bank – Egypt «QNB-Egypt» topped the ranking of the biggest expansion in personal loans over the past three years, with its total personal loans rising by EGP 21.91 billion. The bank’s personal loans portfolio grew to EGP 50.94 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 29.03 billion at the end of 2021.

The index tracked increases in the total personal loans portfolios of 12 foreign banks operating in the Egyptian market, for which financial data was available over the past three years (from year-end 2021 to year-end 2024).

Results showed that all banks under review recorded notable increases in their total personal loans during this period. It is worth noting that both ABC and FABMISR underwent acquisitions, which affected the magnitude of their growth.

Returning to the ranking, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» secured second place, with its personal loans growing by EGP 13.30 billion over the past three years, reaching EGP 25.77 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 12.47 billion at the end of 2021.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «ABK-Egypt» came third, with a personal loans increase of EGP 13.09 billion, bringing its portfolio to EGP 22.03 billion at the end of 2024, up from EGP 8.93 billion at the end of 2021.

Al Baraka Bank ranked fourth, as its personal loans portfolio rose by EGP 10.29 billion to EGP 12.18 billion by year-end 2024, compared to EGP 1.89 billion in 2021.

Finally, First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» claimed the fifth spot with an increase of EGP 8.78 billion, with total personal loans reaching EGP 15.05 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 6.27 billion in 2021.
