EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.659 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index declined against major currencies by the end of trading on Thursday, October 23, 2025, as the index value fell to 39.659 points, compared to 39.683 points at the close of trading on Wednesday.
The decline in the pound’s index came as a result of its depreciation against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Saudi riyal, and UAE dirham, while it appreciated against the Japanese yen and remained stable against the Chinese yuan at the close of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.60 to EGP 47.64 by the end of trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.50 to EGP 47.54.
The average selling price of the euro increased from EGP 55.15 to EGP 55.21, and the average buying price rose from EGP 55.02 to EGP 55.08 by the end of trading.
The average selling price of the British pound climbed from EGP 63.42 to EGP 63.54, while the average buying price increased from EGP 63.27 to EGP 63.38 at the close of today’s session.
The Saudi riyal rose from EGP 12.69 to EGP 12.70 in its selling price, and from EGP 12.66 to EGP 12.67 in its buying price.
Similarly, the UAE dirham advanced from EGP 12.96 to EGP 12.97 in the selling price, and from EGP 12.93 to EGP 12.94 in the buying price by the end of today’s trading.
Meanwhile, the Japanese yen saw a decline, with its average selling price dropping from EGP 31.36 to EGP 31.19, and its average buying price decreasing from EGP 31.30 to EGP 31.12.
The Chinese yuan remained stable at an average selling price of EGP 6.68, while its average buying price in Egypt rose slightly from EGP 6.66 to EGP 6.67 by the end of trading.
