Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Sunday closing

The banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange closed higher at the end of trading on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with the sector’s market capitalization rising by 4.07% to reach EGP 693.13 billion, compared to EGP 660.02 billion at the close of last Thursday’s session.

The banking sector’s market capitalization accounted for 23.53% of the total market capitalization today, the highest share among all sectors listed on the exchange.

Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 883.07 million, representing 15.25% of total market turnover today. A total of 19.41 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 1.12% of the exchange’s total trading volume.

The Egyptian Exchange also closed higher across its main indices, amid a net buying trend by foreign investors worth EGP 260.2 million.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose by 2.48% to 42,965 points, while the EGX70 index increased by 0.28% to 13,036 points, and the EGX100 index climbed by 0.90% to 17,395 points.
