Closed the banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of trading on Sunday, January 18, 2026, with an increase in the sector’s market capitalization by 1.41%, reaching EGP 744.50 billion at the close of today’s session, compared to EGP 734.10 billion at the close of last Thursday’s session.

The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 25.48% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.

The trading value of banking sector shares amounted to EGP 335.40 million, representing 11.89% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 7.66 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.80% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.

The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based rise in its indices, amid a tendency by foreign investors to buy, recording a net purchase value of EGP 258.8 million.

The main index “EGX30” rose by 1.40% to reach 44.152 points, while the “EGX70” index increased by 1.95% to 12,433 points, and the “EGX100” index rose by 2.03% to 16.768 points.
