EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.71 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index witnessed a increase against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, as the index rose to 39.71 points at the end of today’s session, compared to 39.61 points at the close of yesterday’s trading on Tuesday.
The rise of the pound index came as a result of its increase against the US dollar, the euro, the pound sterling, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the Emirati dirham, and the Saudi riyal at the close of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar fell from EGP 47.53 to EGP 47.43 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 47.43 to EGP 47.33 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the euro also decreased from EGP 55.75 to EGP 55.61 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price fell from EGP 55.63 to EGP 55.48 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the pound sterling fell from EGP 63.91 to EGP 63.64 at the close of today’s trading, and the average buying price also decreased from EGP 63.75 to EGP 63.49 at the close of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen decreased from EGP 30.11 to EGP 30.04 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price fell from EGP 30.04 to EGP 29.97 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan fell from EGP 6.83 to EGP 6.81 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 6.81 to EGP 6.79 at the end of today’s session.
Likewise, the average selling price of the Emirati dirham decreased from EGP 12.94 to EGP 12.91 at the close of today’s trading, while the buying price in Egypt fell from EGP 12.91 to EGP 12.88 at the close of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal fell from EGP 12.67 to EGP 12.65 at the close of today’s trading, and the average buying price also decreased from EGP 12.64 to EGP 12.62 at the close of today’s session.
