Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thursday closing

Closed the banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of trading on Thursday, 22 January 2026, with an increase in the sector’s market capitalization by 0.79%, reaching EGP 771.68 billion at the close of today’s session, compared to EGP 765.58 billion at the close of last Wednesday’s session.

The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 25.21% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.

The trading value of banking sector shares amounted to EGP 895.89 million, representing 12.09% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 16.182 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 1.04% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.

The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based rise in its indices, amid a trend of foreign investors toward net buying of EGP 258.8 million.

The main index, EGX30, rose by 0.90% to 46.819 points, while EGX70 increased by 0.52% to 12.855 points, and EGX100 climbed by 0.55% to 17.402 points.
