A recent ranking issued by «First Bank» of the Top 100 Banks in the Arab World by total deposits as of September 2025 revealed the inclusion of 13 Egyptian banking brands within the list.
The classification was based on banks’ reported customer deposits, converted into U.S. dollars to ensure a unified comparison framework across financial institutions. Banks lacking officially disclosed data were excluded to preserve methodological accuracy and reliability.
The ranking covered parent banking groups across various Arab countries and excluded their foreign subsidiaries.
In terms of positioning, National Bank of Egypt ranked seventh among Arab banks and first among Egyptian institutions, with total deposits reaching USD 117.63 billion as of September 2025.
Banque Misr secured 14th place regionally and second domestically, recording deposits of USD 60.55 billion.
Commercial International Bank (CIB) ranked 33rd among Arab banks and third among Egyptian lenders, with a deposit portfolio of USD 21.80 billion.
Arab African International Bank came 42nd regionally and fourth domestically, with deposits totaling USD 14.10 billion, followed by Banque du Caire in 64th place regionally and fifth locally, with USD 8.31 billion in deposits.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt ranked 79th regionally and sixth among Egyptian banks, with deposits of USD 3.98 billion, followed by Suez Canal Bank in 81st place regionally and seventh domestically, recording USD 3.76 billion.
Bank of Alexandria placed 82nd regionally and eighth among Egyptian banks, with deposits reaching USD 3.62 billion, followed by Housing and Development Bank in 84th place regionally and ninth domestically, with USD 3.43 billion.
saib ranked 87th regionally and tenth among Egyptian institutions, with deposits of USD 3.13 billion, followed by Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) in 90th place regionally and 11th domestically, recording USD 3.06 billion.
EGBANK came 92nd regionally and 12th among Egyptian banks, with deposits totaling USD 2.37 billion, while BANK NXT ranked 100th regionally and 13th domestically, with deposits of USD 1.70 billion as of September 2025.
