11 Egyptian Banks on «First Bank» List of Top 100 Arab Banks by Shareholders' Equity at End-September 2025
A recent ranking issued by «First Bank» for the top 100 Arab banks by shareholders' equity at end-September 2025 revealed the presence of 11 local Egyptian brands on the list.
The ranking was based on ordering banks according to announced shareholders' equity valued in U.S. dollars, providing a unified comparison tool among different banking institutions, while excluding banks without available official data to ensure accuracy and reliability of the adopted methodology.
The ranking included parent banking groups in various Arab countries and did not include their foreign subsidiaries.
Regarding Egyptian banks' performance in the ranking, the National Bank of Egypt secured 13th place Arab-wide and first in Egypt with total shareholders' equity of 13.45 bn USD at end-September 2025.
Banque Misr came in 21st Arab-wide and second in Egypt, with its shareholders' equity portfolio recording about 7.74 bn USD at end-September last.
Commercial International Bank-Egypt «CIB» claimed 32nd Arab-wide and third among Egyptian banks with total shareholders' equity reaching 4.32 bn USD at end-September 2025.
Arab African International Bank earned 41st Arab-wide and fourth among Egyptian banks with total shareholders' equity of 2.82 bn USD at end-September 2025.
Banque du Caire obtained 67th Arab-wide and fifth in Egypt with total shareholders' equity of 1.14 bn USD at end-September 2025.
Faisal Islamic Bank ranked 73rd Arab-wide and sixth among Egyptian banks, with total shareholders' equity reaching 819.42 mn USD at end-September 2025.
Housing and Development Bank seized 80th Arab-wide and seventh in Egypt with total shareholders' equity of 703.95 mn USD at end-September 2025.
Bank of Alexandria dominated 82nd Arab-wide and eighth among Egyptian banks with total shareholders' equity of 692.27 mn USD at end-September 2025, followed by Export Development Bank of Egypt «EBank» at 90th Arab-wide and ninth in Egypt with total shareholders' equity of 464.98 mn USD at end of the period.
Suez Canal Bank ranked 99th Arab-wide and tenth in Egypt, with total shareholders' equity of 390.74 mn USD at end-September 2025, followed by «saib» at 100th Arab-wide and 11th among Egyptian banks with total shareholders' equity of 388.37 mn USD at end of the period.
