Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday
The banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on wednesday, May 6, 2026, recording a decline in its market capitalization by 1.48%, reaching EGP 902.68 billion at the end of today’s session, compared to EGP 889.50 billion the previous day’s closing.
The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 24.83% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange.
Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 1.26 billion, representing 9.09% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 15.65 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.71% of the overall trading volume of the market.
The Egyptian Stock Exchange closed at the end of today’s trading on a collective rise in its main trading, amid the trend of foreign investors towards a net purchase of 258.8 million pounds.
The main index “EGX30” increased by 1.99% to 53.605 points, while the “EGX70” index rose by 0.70% to 14,500 points, and the “EGX100” index rose by 0.99% to reach 20.206 points.
