Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday
The banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on wednesday , May 20, 2026, recording a decreased in its market capitalization by 1.93%, reaching EGP 864.926billion at the end of today’s session, compared to 881.925 the previous day’s closing.
The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 24.08% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange.
Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 735.055 million, representing 8.06% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 9.779 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.44% of the overall trading volume of the market.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s trading session on a collective fall across its main indices, amid foreign investors’ tendency toward buying, recording net purchases of EGP 258.8 million.
The main index “EGX30” fell by 1.59% to 51.936 points, while the “EGX70” index decreased by 2.37% to 14.421points, and the “EGX100” index decrease by 2.32% to reach 20.103points.
