«Kuwait Finance House» و«Ahli United Bank» و«Emirates NBD» lead as the fastest-growing foreign banks in retail deposits over the past five years
The «First Bank» ranking of the fastest-growing foreign banks operating in Egypt in terms of retail deposit portfolios over the past five years (end-2020 to end-2025) revealed that «Kuwait Finance House – Egypt» ranked first, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.52%, as its portfolio rose to EGP 37.97 billion by the end of 2025, compared to EGP 8.95 billion at the end of 2020. «Ahli United Bank» ranked second, posting a CAGR of 32.73% over the past five years, with its retail deposit portfolio increasing to EGP 44.69 billion by the end of 2025, up from EGP 10.85 billion at the end of 2020. «Emirates NBD – Egypt» came in third, achieving a CAGR of 31.51% over the same period, as its retail deposit portfolio grew to EGP 69.44 billion by the end of 2025, compared to EGP 17.65 billion at the end of 2020. The «First Bank» ranking monitored the development of retail deposit portfolios across 12 foreign banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available, showing that all banks recorded positive growth rates over the past five years. At the level of Gulf banks, the data showed that they captured all top five positions, with «Kuwait Finance House – Egypt» ranking first, «Ahli United Bank» second, and «Emirates NBD – Egypt» third, followed by «Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt» in fourth place, and «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt» in fifth place. As for Islamic banks, they secured two positions among the top five out of three Islamic banks included in the ranking: «Kuwait Finance House – Egypt» in first place and «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt» in fifth. Meanwhile, «QNB Egypt» topped foreign banks in terms of retail deposit volume, reaching EGP 287.61 billion by the end of 2025, while «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt» ranked second with retail deposits of EGP 134.57 billion by the end of last year.
