HSBC, FABMISR, and CIB lead banks in employee profitability index in Q1 2026

Foreign banks strengthen their presence with 6 spots among the top 10, out of a total of 14 foreign banks included in the ranking
EGP 1.16 mn average employee profitability across 25 operating banks in the banking sector during Q1 2026
The «First Bank» ranking of the best-performing banks in the employee profitability index during Q1 2026 revealed that «HSBC» secured the top position, with average employee profitability reaching EGP 3.95 mn during the first three months of 2026, after recording net profits of EGP 6 bn, while its number of employees reached 1,518 employees during the same period.
First Abu Dhabi Bank Misr «FABMISR» ranked second, with average employee profitability reaching EGP 2.57 mn during Q1 2026, after recording net profits of EGP 6.48 bn, while its number of employees reached 2,518 employees during the same period.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked third, with average employee profitability reaching EGP 2.07 mn during Q1 2026, after recording net profits of EGP 17.74 bn, while its number of employees reached 8,586 employees during the same period.
The ranking included 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which the required financial data for Q1 2026 were available, based on each bank’s standalone financial statements.
The ranking issued by «First Bank» is based on measuring employee profitability, starting from the Chief Executive Officer, through executive management, down to the lowest levels of the organizational structure.
The measurement is based on the average contribution of each employee to the bank’s net profits, reflecting the level of operational efficiency and productivity effectiveness of human capital within each bank.
According to the ranking, foreign banks secured 6 spots among the top 10 from the 14 foreign banks included in the classification, namely: «HSBC», «FABMISR», «ABK – Egypt», «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank», «Kuwait Finance House», and «QNB».
At the sector level, the average employee profitability across 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking system reached approximately EGP 1.16 mn during Q1 2026.
Regarding Islamic banks included in the ranking, «ADIB-Egypt», «Al Baraka», «Kuwait Finance House», and «Faisal Islamic Bank» recorded average employee profitability of EGP 1.26 mn during Q1 2026.
It is worth noting that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are based on the standalone financial statements announced by each bank as of the end of March 2026.
