Suez Canal Bank topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by corporate loans, including small business loans and economic activities, over the past three years, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 57.8 per cent.

The bank nearly tripled its corporate loans over the period to EGP 115.49 billion at end-2025, from EGP 29.38 billion at end-2022.

National Bank of Egypt (NBE) ranked second, with its total corporate loans recording a CAGR of 41.8 per cent over the past three years.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) ranked third, with a CAGR of 39.8 per cent over the past three years. Its total corporate loan portfolio reached EGP 61.20 billion at end-December 2025, compared with EGP 22.42 billion at end-2022.

First Bank’s ranking tracked the development of corporate loan portfolios at 26 banks operating in Egypt for which the required financial data were available over the three-year period from 2022 to 2025. All banks included in the ranking recorded positive growth rates.

At the sector level, the data showed that only the top four banks in the ranking, Suez Canal Bank, National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) and Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) — exceeded the sector’s average CAGR of 39.1 per cent, according to Central Bank of Egypt data.

In contrast, 22 banks recorded growth rates below this average over the past three years.

In the same context, Egypt’s banking sector recorded a CAGR of 39.1 per cent, as its corporate financing portfolio rose to EGP 8.94 trillion at end-2025, from EGP 3.22 trillion at end-2022.

Among foreign banks included in the ranking, six secured places among the 10 fastest-growing banks by corporate loans over the past three years, out of 12 foreign banks covered by the ranking.

These were (ABK-Egypt), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt (ADCB-Egypt), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt), Attijariwafa Bank Egypt, National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt) and Emirates NBD Egypt.

Islamic banks, meanwhile, secured just one place among the 10 fastest-growing banks by corporate financing over the past three years, out of four Islamic banks included in the ranking, ADIB – Egypt, Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH-Egypt), Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt and Al Baraka Bank Egypt.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) was the only one to make the top 10, ranking sixth.

The ranking also showed a strong presence from Egypt’s two largest state-owned banks among the top 10, with NBE ranking second and Banque Misr placing eighth.

All values and growth rates cited in the analysis above are based on the standalone financial statements published by each bank.
