First Bank’s ranking of the 100 largest Arab banks by loans at end-June 2026 showed that the same 10 institutions retained their places among the leaders, although several positions shifted from the 2025 ranking.
Relatively narrow gaps between loan portfolios meant that modest differences in growth were enough to reshape the order at the top.
Qatar National Bank (QNB) retained first place as the largest Arab bank by loans, with its portfolio rising 2.7 per cent during the first half of 2026 to approximately USD 285.99bn at end-June, from USD 278.54bn at end-2025.
Emirates NBD climbed two places to second after recording the fastest loan growth among the top 10, with a portfolio rising 17.9 per cent to USD 203.22bn at end-June 2026, from USD 172.31bn at end-2025.
The advance pushed Al Rajhi Bank down one place to third, after its financing portfolio grew a modest 1.1 per cent during the first half of the year to USD 202.84bn at end-June 2026, from USD 200.69bn at end-2025.
Saudi National Bank (SNB) also slipped one place to fourth, with loans reaching approximately USD 196.84bn at end-June 2026, compared with USD 194.44bn at end-2025, representing growth of 1.2 per cent during the first half.
First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) retained fifth place, with its loan portfolio rising 7.3 per cent to USD 180.03bn at end-June 2026, from USD 167.81bn at end-2025.

National Bank of Egypt (NBE) advanced one place to seventh from eighth at end-2025, with its loan portfolio reaching approximately USD 100.513bn at end-June 2026.
Riyad Bank moved in the opposite direction, slipping one place to eighth as its loan portfolio stood at approximately USD 100.508bn at end-June 2026, compared with USD 99.53bn at end-2025, representing growth of 1 per cent during the first six months of the year.
National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) retained ninth place, with its loan portfolio rising 3.6 per cent to approximately USD 90.19bn at end-June 2026, from USD 87.09bn at end-2025.
Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB) maintained 10th place, with total loans reaching approximately USD 85.22bn at end-June 2026, from USD 79.62bn at end-2025, an increase of 7 per cent during the first half.
The ranking is based on banks’ reported loan portfolios at end-June 2026, converted into US dollars to ensure a consistent basis for comparison across institutions.
It covers parent banking groups across the Arab region, excluding overseas branches, while banks without available official financial data were omitted to preserve the ranking’s accuracy and methodological consistency.
