FABMISR advances among largest banks by retail deposits
First Abu Dhabi Bank Egypt (FABMISR) advanced one place in the ranking of banks operating in Egypt by retail deposits, reaching 11th place at the end of June 2026, compared to 12th place at the end of December 2025.
This progress was supported by a 20.29 per cent growth in its retail deposit portfolio during H1 2026.
The bank’s retail deposit portfolio reached EGP 89.76 bn at the end of June 2026, compared to EGP 74.62 bn at the end of December 2025, marking an increase of EGP 15.14 bn over six months. This reflects notable growth in the savings base attracted from individual customers.
FABMISR’s advancement came amid strong competition among banks to attract retail deposits. Its portfolio surpassed that of Al Baraka Bank Egypt at the end of June 2026, after trailing it at the end of December 2025, securing an advance by a narrow margin of approximately EGP 135.2 mn.
In terms of growth rates, FABMISR recorded an increase in retail deposits that exceeded the average growth registered by several banks on the list.
Its performance also ranked among the relatively high growth rates recorded by banks, with retail deposit portfolios exceeding EGP 50 bn, with a growth rate of 20.29 per cent, strengthening its competitive position in the retail banking market.
This performance reflects FABMISR’s ability to expand the volume of retail savings it attracts, supporting the diversification of its funding sources and providing a larger funding base that can be deployed in lending and investment activities. It also supports the bank’s plans to expand its banking services for individual customers.
The bank’s advancement in the ranking carries additional significance amid intense competition among banks to attract retail deposits, which represent one of their key funding sources.
The improvement extends beyond portfolio growth to a stronger market ranking, reflecting the bank’s growing ability to attract customer savings and expand its presence in this segment.
