ABK-Egypt tops foreign banks in net profit growth
EGP 67.88 bn in net profits recorded by 13 foreign banks, up 10.5 per cent in H1 2026
Islamic banks secure two spots among the top five, out of three banks covered
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) topped foreign banks operating in Egypt in terms of net profit growth during H1 2026, according to First Bank’s ranking, recording a growth rate of 29.8 per cent.
ABK-Egypt’s net profit rose to approximately EGP 3.13 bn in H1 2026, compared to around EGP 2.41 bn in the corresponding period of 2025, representing an increase of EGP 717.93 mn.
HSBC ranked second, with net profit rising 29 per cent to EGP 12.36 bn in H1 2026, compared to EGP 9.58 bn in H1 2025, an increase of EGP 2.78 bn.
ADIB Egypt came third, with net profit increasing by 21.6 per cent to approximately EGP 7.34 bn in H1 2026, compared to around EGP 6.04 bn in the corresponding period of 2025.
The ranking covered 13 foreign banks operating in the Egyptian banking market, revealing that nine banks recorded positive net profit growth during H1 2026, while the remaining four reported lower profits year-on-year.
The combined net profits of the 13 foreign banks reached EGP 67.88 bn in H1 2026, compared to EGP 61.42 bn in H1 2025, increasing by EGP 6.46 bn, or 10.5 per cent.
Among Islamic banks, ADIB Egypt and Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH) secured two positions among the top five, out of the three Islamic banks covered, ranking third and fifth, respectively.
At the level of Gulf banks, the data showed that they secured four of the top five positions. ABK-Egypt ranked first, followed by ADIB Egypt in third, QNB Egypt in fourth and KFH in fifth.
All figures and growth rates mentioned in this analysis are based on the standalone financial statements published by each bank for the period ended June 2026, ensuring consistency across the banks covered.
