NBE, Banque Misr and CIB, Among Top 500 banking brands in the world for 2022
DR. Wissam Fattouh - Secretary General - The Union of Arab Banks, announced that 3 Egyptian banks found on the list of the 500 best banking brands in the world for 2022, based on an analytical study issued by the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Banks.
The banks were ranked according to the value of their brands, and these banks are: (The National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and the Commercial International Bank - Egypt).
The total value of the brands of these banks reached $1.2 bn, and the total market capitalization of these banks reached about $3.1 bn.
NBE won the most valuable banking brand in Egypt for 2022, and it ranked 22nd in the Arab world and 315th globally, with a brand value of about $478 mn.
Banque Misr ranked second locally, 26th in the Arab world, and 343rd globally, finally, Commercial International Bank ranked third locally, 32nd in the Arab world, and 387th globally.
The data published by The Banker magazine, issued in February 2023, which includes the 500 largest banking brands in the world, showed that 39 Arab banks entered the list, compared to 40 banks in 2021.
The total banking brands of the 39 Arab banks recorded $49.3 bn, compared to $41.9 bn in 2021, and the total market capitalization of these banks recorded $572.8 bn.
Saudi Arabia recorded the largest number of Arab banks that entered the list, as 10 Saudi banks were included, followed by UAE (9 banks), Qatar (6 banks), Kuwait (5 banks), each of Egypt and Morocco (3 banks), and a bank in Jordan, Oman and Bahrain.
