CBE: Bank deposits grow by 7.4% and record EGP9.2 tn at March-2023end

The statistical bulletin issued on the Central Bank's website, revealed an increase in the total deposits of banks (excluding CBE) by 7.4% during the first quarter of 2023, to record EGP9.2 tn at the end of last March, compared to EGP8.6 tn at the end of December 2022, with an increase of EGP635.5 bn.
Bank deposits were divided into government deposits and non-government deposits, as government deposits increased by 5.1% during the first quarter of the current year, to record EGP2.050 tn at the end of last March, compared to EGP1.952 tn at the end of December 2022.
Non-government deposits also increased by 8.1% during the first quarter of 2023, to record EGP7.165 tn at the end of last March, compared to EGP6.629 tn at the end of December 2022, with an increase of EGP536.6 bn.
