Domestic liquidity in Egyptian banking sector increases by 19.36% in 9 Month: CBE

The domestic liquidity in the Egyptian banking sector increased by 19.36% to record 6.949 trillion pounds in 9 months, compared to 5.822 trillion pounds at the end of 2021 with an increase of 1.127 trillion pounds according to a recent report by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

On a monthly basis, the domestic liquidity jumped by 2.07%, achieving an increase of 141.244 billion pounds, compared to 6.808 billion pounds at the end of August 2022.

The size of money supply rose to 1.685 trillion pounds at the end of last September, compared to 1.382 trillion pounds at the end of 2021, achieving a growth rate of 21.91%, and an increase of 302.842 billion pounds.

However, the money supply on monthly basis /increased by 4.46%, achieving an increase of 71.950 billion pounds on a monthly basis, compared to 1.613 trillion pounds at the end of August 2022.

According to the CBE, the volume of cash circulating outside the banking rose from 701.882 billion pounds at the end of 2021, to 797.231 billion pounds at the end of last September, achieving an increase of 13.58%.
