CBE: Domestic liquidity grows by 21.5%, recording EGP 10.8 tn by July 2024 end

The latest data of the Central Bank of Egypt, revealed an increase in domestic liquidity by a growth rate of 21.47% during 7M-2024, to record EGP 10.784 tn by the end of July 2024, compared to EGP 8.87 tn at the end of 2023, with an increase of EGP1.906 tn.

Domestic liquidity consists of cash and money supply, categorized under cash supply; circulating cash outside the banking system and current deposits in the local currency.

The money supply increased to EGP 2.960 tn by the end of July 2024, compared to EGP 2.370 tn by the end of December 2023, with a growth rate of 13.48%, and an increase of EGP 319.5 bn.

Currency in circulation outside the banking sector rose to EGP1.195tn by the end of July 2024, up from EGP1.068tn by the end of December 2023, with a growth rate of 11.78% and an increase of EGP125.9bn.
