It was followed by Credit Agricole Egypt, which ranked third among the top gainers, rising 1.51% to close at 24.90 EGP, compared with 24.53 EGP at the opening.Al Baraka Bank Egypt rose 0.69% to close at 23.47 EGP, compared with 23.31 EGP at the opening, followed by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank–Egypt, which gained 0.38% to close at 55.40 EGP, compared with 55.19 EGP at the opening.Export Development Bank of Egypt rose 0.38% to close at 21.24 EGP, compared with 21.16 EGP at the beginning of the session, followed by Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt (USD), which gained 0.20% to close at 0.993 USD, compared with 0.991 USD at the opening.On the downside, QNB Egypt declined 0.20% to close at 59.80 EGP, compared with 59.92 EGP at the opening. Suez Canal Bank also fell 0.45% to close at 42.31 EGP, compared with 42.50 EGP at the beginning of the session.Egyptian Gulf Bank declined 0.74% to close at 0.534 USD, compared with 0.538 USD at the in Egypt, announced its financial results for the first half of 2026, reporting net profit of EGP 7.9 billion.The results showed the bank’s resilient financial position and continued focus on its core business, supported by a diversified offering and efforts to enhance customer-focused banking services. FABMISR said its performance reflected its commitment to delivering banking solutions that support customer needs and contribute to sustainable growth.According to the financial statements, net loans and advances to customers reached EGP 158.5 billion at end-June 2026, including financing for Egyptian private-sector activities, up 26 per cent compared with the same period last year.Total assets reached EGP 420 billion at end-June 2026, while customer deposits stood at EGP 298.5 billion and total shareholders’ equity reached EGP 69.6 billion.FABMISR recorded net interest income of EGP 14.2 billion in the first half of 2026, maintaining solid performance compared with the same period in 2025.Net fees and commission income increased 25 per cent year-on-year to EGP 1.7 billion, reflecting the bank’s efforts to diversify its revenue streams and expand customer-focused banking services.The bank’s retail portfolio continued to record positive momentum. Retail customer deposits reached EGP 89.8 billion, up 20 per cent, while retail loans reached EGP 29.4 billion, an increase of 12 per cent compared with December 2025.The bank also maintained a strong capital position, with its capital adequacy ratio (CAR) reaching 30.32 per cent as of June 2026. FABMISR also paid EGP 5.1 billion in taxes during the first six months of 2026, reflecting its tax obligations and contribution to the national economy.Commenting on the results, Ahmed Issa, chief executive officer and managing director of FABMISR, said: “The first half of 2026 demonstrates FABMISR’s continued focus on strengthening the foundations of our business and creating sustainable value for our customers. This taxonomy aims to provide accurate and certified data on sustainable economic activities, amid the intersection of economic growth with environmental and social issues, thereby enhancing investor confidence and creates an attractive environment for green and sustainable investments in general.To this end, a technical working group has been formed, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Local Development and Environment, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, as well as the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA). The group aims to coordinate and integrate efforts among all relevant authorities, allowing them to share feedback and insights during the preparatory stages of the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy that will be issued by the CBE.The working group held its first meeting at the CBE's headquarters, attended by representatives from member ministries and authorities.
