CIB, AAIB and QNB Egypt top private sector banks strengthening its financial position in the last 3 years

First Bank index of the private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector that have strengthened their financial position in the last 3 years revealed that the Commercial International Bank-Egypt «CIB» topped the list, as its asset portfolio rose by EGP 712.67 billion in the last 3 years, reaching EGP 1.21 trillion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 496.65 billion by the end of 2021. First Bank index for strengthening the financial position monitored the increase values in the total asset portfolios of 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available for the last 3 years (specifically from the end of 2021 until the end of 2024). The index showed that all the banks under analysis achieved significant increases in the size of their asset portfolios in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that the banks «ABC» and «FABMISR» completed acquisitions during this period, which affected their increase values. Returning to the list, Arab African International Bank took second place, after its asset portfolio jumped by 681.84 billion pounds in the last 3 years, to record 923.65 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 241.81 billion pounds at the end of 2021. Qatar National Bank «QNB» took third place in Egypt, with an increase of EGP 454.78 billion over the past 3 years, after its portfolio recorded EGP 808.98 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 354.20 billion at the end of 2021. First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came fourth, as its asset portfolio increased by EGP 325.07 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 412.71 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 87.64 billion at the end of 2021. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» dominated fifth place, after its asset portfolio increased by EGP 169.39 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 258.84 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 89.45 billion by the end of 2021. HSBC Egypt «HSBC» took sixth place, with its asset portfolio jumping by EGP 151.19 billion over the past 3 years, after reaching EGP 283.46 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 132.27 billion at the end of 2021. The Suez Canal Bank came seventh, after its asset portfolio rose by 118.16 billion pounds in the last 3 years, to record 180.19 billion pounds by the end of 2024, compared to 57.43 billion pounds by the end of 2021. The National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt» came in eighth place with an increase of EGP 118.16 billion in the last 3 years, after its asset portfolio reached EGP 195.66 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 77.49 billion at the end of 2021. Faisal Islamic Bank came in ninth place, as its asset portfolio increased by EGP 109.25 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 240.23 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 130.98 billion by the end of 2021. As for the tenth place, it went to the Bank of Alexandria, as its asset portfolio recorded 214.57 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 114.90 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 99.67 billion pounds in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that private sector banks are banks whose total shareholding exceeds 50%, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
