EGBANK, Emirates NBD and ABK – Egypt top fastest growing banks in retail banking during Q1-2025

First Bank's list of the fastest growing banks in retail banking during the first quarter of 2025 revealed that the Egyptian Gulf Bank «EGBANK» topped the list after its retail banking portfolios increased by an average of 21%, as a result of the rise in the individual loan portfolio to 21.79 billion at the end of last March, with a growth of 35.8%, in addition to the rise in the volume of individual deposits to 26.16 billion, with a growth of 6.3% during the first 3 months of 2025.
The list, which included 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data were available during the period under analysis, showed that 24 banks achieved positive growth rates in their retail banking sector during the first quarter of 2025, while one bank witnessed a noticeable decline.
It was ranked according to a composite index developed by «First Bank» to measure the bank's growth in my portfolio «Individual Loans and Individual Deposits».
Returning to the list, Emirates NBD – Egypt «Emirates NBD» won second place after its retail banking sector jumped at a combined growth rate of 17.9% during the first quarter of 2025, as the volume of individual loans recorded the equivalent of 19.47 billion at the end of last March, a growth of 15.2%, in addition to an increase in individual deposits to the equivalent of 55.58 billion, a growth of 20.6% during the first 3 months of 2025.
The National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt took third place, after its retail banking sector rose at a combined growth rate of 14.8%, as a result of the rise in the individual loan portfolio to 25.60 billion pounds at the end of last March, a growth of 11.8% during the first quarter of 2025, while the volume of individual deposits in the bank reached 39.98 billion, a growth of 17.8% during the first 3 months of 2025.
Bank Next «Bank NXT» ranked fourth, as its retail banking sector jumped by about 14.6% during the first quarter of 2025, after recording the size of the bank's individual loan portfolio to 11.42 billion pounds, a growth of 10.7%, while the size of the individual deposit portfolio recorded 25.45 billion, a growth of 18.6% during the first 3 months of 2025.
Suez Canal Bank achieved fifth place with a combined growth rate of 14.4% in its retail banking sector, as a result of the increase in its individual loan portfolio to EGP 6.23 billion, a growth of 13.4%, and the increase in its individual deposit portfolio to EGP 24.39 billion, a growth of 15.5% during the first quarter of 2025.
The sixth place was obtained by the Arab International Banking Corporation «SAIB», after its Egyptian retail sector jumped at a combined growth rate of 14.3% during the first quarter of 2025, as a result of the bank's individual loan portfolio rising to EGP 22.22 billion at the end of last March, a growth of 12.4%, in addition to the rise in its individual deposit portfolio to EGP 46.42 billion, a growth of 16.2% during the first 3 months of 2025.
Kuwait Finance House Bank – Egypt snatched seventh place with a combined growth rate of 12% during the first quarter of 2025, as the size of its portfolio of individual loans did not record 5.64 billion pounds at the end of last March, a growth of 14%, while the size of its portfolio of individual deposits rose to 28.17 billion, a growth of 10% during the first quarter of 2025.
Al Baraka Bank came in eighth place on the list, as its retail banking sector jumped by about 10.32% during the first quarter of 2025, as a result of achieving a growth rate of 11.9% in the individual financing portfolio to record EGP 14.02 billion by the end of last March, and the increase in the individual deposits portfolio to 68.13 billion, a growth of 8.7% during the first 3 months of 2025.
First Abu Dhabi Bank - Egypt «FABMISR» came in ninth place with a combined growth rate of 10.30% during the first quarter of 2025, after its individual loan portfolio jumped to EGP 22.84 billion at the end of last March, a growth of 9.8%, in addition to the increase in the individual deposit portfolio to EGP 63.43 billion, a growth of 10.8% during the first 3 months of 2025.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» ranked tenth after its retail banking sector rose by about 9.8% during the first quarter of 2025, as a result of the increase in the individual financing portfolio at a growth rate of 9.4% to record EGP 30.24 billion by the end of March 2025, in addition to the increase in the individual deposits portfolio to 95.72 billion with a growth of 10.3% during the first 3 months of 2025.
It is worth noting that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are in accordance with the independent financial statements announced for each bank by the end of March 2025
