ABK-Egypt, Suez Canal Bank, and Emirates NBD Among the Fastest-Growing Banks in Assets After Neutralizing Exchange Rate Effects in Q1 2025

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) ranked first among Egyptian banks in terms of asset growth after neutralizing exchange rate effects, achieving a growth rate of 14.4% during the first quarter of 2025. Suez Canal Bank came in second with a growth rate of 13%.
Emirates NBD – Egypt secured the third position, with an asset growth rate of 9.6% after neutralizing currency effects, while ADIB-Egypt and Bank of Alexandria held the fourth and fifth positions, with growth rates of 9.1% and 8.34%, respectively.
The First Bank list of the fastest-growing banks in assets after neutralizing exchange rate fluctuations during Q1 2025 revealed that ABK-Egypt topped the list with a growth rate of 14.4%, bringing its total assets to EGP 156.03 billion as of March 2025.
This ranking reflects the real organic growth of banks’ asset portfolios during Q1 2025, excluding the impact of foreign exchange volatility. Notably, the First Bank list included 22 operating banks in the Egyptian banking sector, based on the availability of their official financial statements.
Returning to the ranking, Suez Canal Bank claimed second place with an adjusted growth rate of 13%, reaching a total asset portfolio of EGP 203.20 billion by the end of March 2025.
Emirates NBD – Egypt came in third, with a growth rate of 9.6% after neutralizing exchange rate impact, and total assets standing at EGP 173.80 billion.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB) ranked fourth, with an asset growth rate of 9.1%, reaching EGP 282.09 billion by the end of the quarter.
Bank of Alexandria secured fifth place, achieving a growth rate of 8.34%, with total assets amounting to EGP 235.67 billion as of March 2025.
SAIB Bank came in sixth with a growth rate of 8.30%, and total assets reaching EGP 162.16 billion.
HSBC Egypt ranked seventh after recording a growth rate of 7.1%, bringing its total assets to EGP 302.22 billion.
Bank NXT took the eighth spot, with a growth rate of 6.9%, and asset volume of EGP 84.72 billion.
The United Bank came in ninth, with an adjusted growth rate of 5.8%, and total assets of EGP 87.18 billion.
Al Baraka Bank – Egypt rounded out the top ten, achieving an asset growth rate of 5.2% during Q1 2025, with total assets reaching EGP 134.31 billion.
