EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.678 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index declined against major currencies by the end of today’s trading on Monday, December 8, 2025, as the index value decreased to 39.678 points by the end of today’s trading, compared to 39.709 points at the end of yesterday’s trading on Sunday.

The decline in the pound index came as a result of its depreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, and its appreciation against the Japanese yen, while it remained stable against the British pound by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar increased from EGP 47.54 to EGP 47.58 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price rose from EGP 47.44 to EGP 47.48 at the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the euro also increased from EGP 55.35 to EGP 55.43 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price increased from EGP 55.23 to EGP 55.31 at the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan increased from EGP 6.72 to EGP 6.73 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 6.70 to EGP 6.71 by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham also increased from EGP 12.94 to EGP 12.95 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price increased from EGP 12.91 to EGP 12.92 by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the Saudi riyal increased from EGP 12.66 to EGP 12.67 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price remained stable at EGP 12.64 by the end of today’s trading.

Meanwhile, the average selling price of the Japanese yen declined from EGP 30.60 to EGP 30.57 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price decreased from EGP 30.54 to EGP 30.50 by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the British pound remained stable at EGP 63.38 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price declined from EGP 63.23 to EGP 63.22 by the end of today’s trading.
