Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Tuesday’s closing session
The banking sector ends EGX trading session on Tuesday with increase in the market cap by 3.06% or EGP 264.063 billion compared to EGP 256.216 billion at the end of Monday’s session.
The market cap of the banking sector reached 26.34% of the total EGX market cap, which is considered the highest percentage among the sectors listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.
The turnover on banking sector shares amounted to EGP 415.252 million which represents 18.03% of the total trading volume today after 11.888 million shares were exchanged capturing 2.56% of the total trading volume.
The indexes of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note, with the EGX30 main index gaining 1.59% to 16,440.53 points.
Likewise, the EGX50 EWI levelled up by 0.39% to 2,865.48 points and the EGX100 EWI index grew by 0.08% to 4,457.84 points.
On the other hand, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI index ended the session lower by 0.05% to 2,982.03 points.
The turnover amounted to EGP 2.30 billion after 465.17 million shares were exchanged during the session. The market cap value reached EGP 1.06 trillion.
As for trading on securities, the Egyptian and foreign traders were net sellers with EGP 131.33 million and EGP 35.75 million, respectively. Meanwhile, the Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 167.08 million.
