EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.654 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index recorded gains against major currencies at the close of trading on Sunday, December 21, 2025, rising to 39.654 points, compared to 39.588 points at the close of last Thursday’s session.
The increase in the pound index was driven by its appreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the British pound sterling, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal by the end of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.63 to EGP 47.59 by the close of trading, while the average buying price fell from EGP 47.53 to EGP 47.49 at the end of the session.
The average selling price of the euro decreased from EGP 55.82 to EGP 55.73 by the close of trading, while the average buying price declined from EGP 55.69 to EGP 55.60 at the end of the session.
The average selling price of the British pound sterling also edged down from EGP 63.75 to EGP 63.69 by the close of trading, while the average buying price retreated from EGP 63.59 to EGP 63.51 at the end of the session.
Likewise, the average selling price of the Japanese yen fell from EGP 30.58 to EGP 30.16 by the close of trading, while the average buying price declined from EGP 30.51 to EGP 30.09 at the end of the session.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan decreased from EGP 6.76 to EGP 6.75 by the close of trading, while the average buying price in Egypt slipped from EGP 6.75 to EGP 6.74 at the end of the session.
In addition, the average selling price of the UAE dirham declined from EGP 12.96 to EGP 12.95 by the close of trading, while the average buying price fell from EGP 12.94 to EGP 12.93 at the end of the session.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal also retreated from EGP 12.70 to EGP 12.68 by the close of trading, while the average buying price declined from EGP 12.67 to EGP 12.66 at the end of the session.
