EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.674 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index recorded an increase against major currencies at the close of trading on Monday, December 22, 2025, with the index rising to 39.674 points at the end of today’s session, compared to 39.654 points at the close of trading on Sunday.
The rise in the pound index was driven by its appreciation against the US dollar, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal, while it declined against the euro, British pound, and Japanese yen, and remained stable against the Chinese yuan by the end of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.59 to EGP 47.51, while the average buying price fell from EGP 47.49 to EGP 47.41 at the close of trading.
The average selling price of the UAE dirham decreased from EGP 12.95 to EGP 12.93, and the average buying price declined from EGP 12.93 to EGP 12.90 by the end of the session.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal edged down from EGP 12.68 to EGP 12.67, while the average buying price slipped from EGP 12.66 to EGP 12.64 at the close of trading.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the euro rose from EGP 55.73 to EGP 55.78, and the average buying price increased from EGP 55.60 to EGP 55.66 by the end of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the British pound increased from EGP 63.69 to EGP 63.85, while the average buying price rose from EGP 63.51 to EGP 63.69 at the close of the session.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen rose slightly from EGP 30.16 to EGP 30.18, and the average buying price increased from EGP 30.09 to EGP 30.12 by the end of trading.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the Chinese yuan remained stable at EGP 6.75, while the average buying price in Egypt declined slightly from EGP 6.74 to EGP 6.73 at the close of today’s trading.
