Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Monday closing

The banking sector closed trading on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of today’s session, Sunday, January 19, 2026, with an increase in the sector’s market capitalization of 1.28%, reaching EGP 754.01 billion at the close of today’s session, compared with EGP 744.50 billion at the close of yesterday’s Sunday session.
The banking sector’s market capitalization today accounted for 25.23% of the total market capitalization, the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.
The value of trading in banking sector stocks amounted to EGP 561.45 million, representing 9.44% of total trading on the exchange today. A total of 11.56 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.78% of the exchange’s total trading volume today.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based rise in its indices, amid a trend of foreign investors toward net buying of EGP 258.8 million.
The main index, EGX30, rose by 2.49% to 45,048 points, while EGX70 increased by 1.40% to 12,607 points, and EGX100 climbed by 1.52% to 17,023 points.
