Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday closing

Closed the banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of trading on Wednesday 28 January 2026, with an decrease in the sector’s market capitalization by 0.68%, reaching EGP 788.62 billion at the close of today’s session, compared to EGP 794.02 billion at the close of last Tuesday’s session.
The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 25.72% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.
The trading value of banking sector shares amounted to EGP 1.04 billion, representing 13.81% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 15.31 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.78% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based decline of “EGX30”, “EGX70” and “EGX100” amid a trend of foreign investors toward net buying of EGP 258.8 million.
The main index EGX30 fell by 0.10% to 47.785 points, while EGX70 decreased by 2.85% to 12.149 points, and EGX100 fell by 2.08% to 16.827points.
