The First Bank list of private sector banks most focused on personal financing investment at the end of September 2025 revealed that Bank of Alexandria led the list with a concentration ratio of 42.96%. Its personal loan portfolio recorded approximately 34.82 billion Egyptian pounds, while its total customer loans reached 81.03 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of last September.
EGBANK ranked second, as 33.71% of its total customer loan portfolio was concentrated in personal loans, valued at 21.48 billion Egyptian pounds, while its total customer loans reached 63.70 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of September 2025.
ABK Egypt secured the third position with a concentration ratio of 29.94%, after its personal financing portfolio reached approximately 25.26 billion Egyptian pounds, and its total customer loan portfolio hit 84.38 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of September 2025.
The list monitors the investment trends of 19 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available for the period under analysis, specifically regarding personal loan portfolios. It relies on the personal loans to total customer loans ratio to provide an indicator of the extent to which a bank's loan portfolio is concentrated in personal loans.
The list revealed a strong presence of foreign groups operating in Egypt, as they captured 7 spots within the top ten, represented by Bank of Alexandria, ABK Egypt, ADIB Egypt, Al Baraka, HSBC, Credit Agricole, and Emirates NBD.
As for banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange, they claimed half of the spots among the top 10 private sector banks most focused on personal financing investment, including EGBANK, ADIB Egypt, saib, Al Baraka, and Credit Agricole.
Furthermore, Islamic banks secured two spots within the top ten, namely ADIB Egypt and Al Baraka.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are those where the total private capital contribution exceeds the 50% threshold, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
