The «First Bank» ranking of the best private sector banks in the asset-to-deposit coverage ratio as of September 2025 revealed that First Abu Dhabi Bank – Egypt «FABMISR» topped the list with a coverage ratio of 151.99%, after the bank’s total assets reached EGP 472.42 bn, while customer deposits recorded EGP 310.83 bn as of the end of September 2025.

HSBC Egypt «HSBC» ranked second with an asset-to-deposit coverage ratio of 135.35%, after the bank’s total assets reached EGP 308.39 bn, while its customer deposits portfolio recorded EGP 227.84 bn as of the end of September 2025.

The Arab African International Bank «AAIB» ranked third with a coverage ratio of 134.98%, after its total assets reached EGP 912.39 bn, while customer deposits amounted to EGP 675.94 bn as of the end of September 2025.

The ranking, which included 21 private banks with available financial data, showed that all banks recorded strong asset coverage ratios for customer deposits as of the end of September 2025.

The asset-to-deposit coverage ratio index reflects banks’ ability to cover customer deposits using their asset portfolios. The ranking is calculated based on the formula (Assets / Deposits) × 100, where a higher ratio indicates a stronger level of safety provided by the bank to its depositors across different segments.

Data also showed strong performance by foreign banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured 6 positions among the top 10 private banks in the asset-to-deposit coverage ratio as of September 2025, namely: «FABMISR», «HSBC», «AlexBank», «Crédit Agricole Egypt», «Emirates NBD – Egypt», and «NBK – Egypt», while other banking groups were absent from the top ten positions.

Meanwhile, banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange captured 4 positions among the top 10 private banks in the asset-to-deposit coverage ratio as of September 2025, represented by: «Faisal Islamic Bank», «CIB», «Crédit Agricole Egypt», and Suez Canal Bank.

At the level of Islamic banks, «Faisal Islamic Bank» appeared among the top 10 private banks in the asset-to-deposit coverage ratio as of September 2025.

It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as banks in which private ownership exceeds 50% of total capital, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
