The First Bank list of private sector banks most focused on syndicated financing investment at the end of September 2025 revealed that Arab African International Bank (AAIB) topped the list with a concentration ratio of 28.47%. Its syndicated loan portfolio recorded approximately 66.42 billion Egyptian pounds, while its total customer loans reached 233.28 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of last September.
saib ranked second, as 25.40% of its total customer loan portfolio was concentrated in syndicated loans, valued at 20.83 billion Egyptian pounds, while its total customer loans reached 81.98 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of September 2025.
HSBC secured the third position with a concentration ratio of 20.43%, after its syndicated financing portfolio reached approximately 12.21 billion Egyptian pounds, and its total customer loan portfolio hit 59.79 billion Egyptian pounds at the end of September 2025.
The list monitors the investment trends of 19 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available for the period under analysis, specifically regarding syndicated loan portfolios. It relies on the syndicated loans to total customer loans ratio to provide an indicator of the extent to which a bank's loan portfolio is concentrated in syndicated loans.
The list revealed a strong presence of foreign groups operating in Egypt, as they captured 4 seats within the top ten, represented by: HSBC, ADCB, Al Baraka Bank, and QNB.
As for banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange, they claimed 6 positions among the top 10 private sector banks most focused on syndicated financing investment, including: saib, Suez Canal Bank, CIB, EGBANK, Al Baraka Bank, and QNB Egypt.
Furthermore, Islamic banks captured a single seat within the top ten, which is Al Baraka Bank, after ranking ninth on the list.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are those where the total private capital contribution exceeds the 50% threshold, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
