13 Egyptian Banks Included in the «First Bank» List of the Top 100 Arab Banks by Capital Size

A recent ranking issued by «First Bank» on the top 100 Arab banks by capital size as of September 2025 revealed the presence of 13 Egyptian banking brands within the list.

The ranking was based on banks’ total capital as reported in their published financial position statements, denominated in USD bn, providing a unified comparison tool across banking institutions. The methodology excluded banks with unavailable official data to ensure accuracy and reliability. The ranking also covered parent banking groups across Arab countries, excluding their foreign subsidiaries.

In terms of the performance of Egyptian banks within the ranking, the «National Bank of Egypt (NBE)» secured 11th place regionally and ranked 1st among Egyptian banks, with total capital reaching approximately 3.34 USD bn as of September 2025.

«Banque Misr» ranked 18th regionally and 2nd among Egyptian banks, with capital amounting to around 2.30 USD bn.

The «Commercial International Bank – Egypt » came in 51st place regionally and 3rd locally, recording capital of approximately 0.64 USD bn.

«Arab African International Bank » ranked 58th regionally and 4th among Egyptian banks, with capital reaching 0.50 USD bn.

«Banque du Caire» secured 63rd place regionally and 5th locally, with capital of about 0.43 USD bn.

The «Suez Canal Bank » ranked 68th regionally and 6th among Egyptian banks, with capital totaling approximately 0.33 USD bn.

«Export Development Bank of Egypt » came in 73rd place regionally and 7th locally, recording capital of around 0.28 USD bn.

«Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt» ranked 90th regionally and 8th among Egyptian banks, with capital reaching approximately 0.15 USD bn, followed by «Suez Canal Bank» in 92nd place regionally and 9th locally, with capital of about 0.14 USD bn.

«BANK NXT» secured 93rd place regionally and ranked 10th among Egyptian banks, with capital of approximately 0.12 USD bn, followed by «Egyptian Gulf Bank (EGBANK)» in 94th place regionally and 11th locally, recording around 0.12 USD bn.

«The United Bank of Egypt» ranked 95th regionally and 12th among Egyptian banks, with capital of approximately 0.11 USD bn, followed by «Housing & Development Bank (HDB)» in 97th place regionally and 13th locally, with capital of about 0.11 USD bn.
