Deposits in foreign currency increased by 78.25% at 22-end, Egypt’s C.Bank

Total bank deposits in foreign currency (other than the central bank) increased during 2022 with a rate of 78.25%, an increase of 509 billion pounds, to record 1.160 trillion pounds by the end of 2022, compared to 650.852 billion pounds by the end of 2021.

Demand deposits in foreign currencies reached 309.862 billion pounds, while the time deposits and savings certificates reached 850.217 billion pounds by the end of December 2022.

Demand deposits in foreign currencies for the public business sector reached 22.638 billion pounds, while it reached 199.618 billion pounds for the private business sector, and 97 billion pounds for retail sector by the end of December 2022.

Public business sector time deposits and savings certificates in foreign currencies reached 48.485 billion pounds at the end of December 2022. However, private business sector deposits reached 185.579 billion, and Households reached 616.153 billion pounds.
