Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday
Closed the banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of trading on wednesday 15 April 2026, with an increase in the sector’s market capitalization by 2.73% reaching EGP 861.12 billion at the close of today’s session, compared to EGP 838.21 billion at the close of yesterday’s session.
The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 25.32% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.
The trading value of banking sector shares amounted to EGP 1.58 billion, representing 16.83% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 19.65 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.91% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based rise across its main indices, supported by net foreign buying worth EGP 258.8 million.
The main index “EGX30” increased by 1.51% to 50.733 points, and “EGX70” rose by 1.40% to 13.328 points, and “EGX100” rose by 1.33% to 18.641 points.
