Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday
Closed the banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange at the end of trading on wednesday 22 April 2026, with an decrease in the sector’s market capitalization by 1.45% reaching EGP 848.9 billion at the close of today’s session, compared to EGP 861.358 billion at the close of yesterday’s session.
The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 24.33% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest percentage among all sectors listed on the exchange.
The trading value of banking sector shares amounted to EGP 572.63 billion, representing 4.79% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 9.18 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.29% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with a broad-based rise across its main indices, supported by net foreign buying worth EGP 258.8 million.
The main index “EGX30” decreased by 0.03% to 51.962 points, and “EGX70” rose by 0.57% to 13.717 points, and “EGX100” rose by 0.81% to 19.212 points.
