25 Banks Operating in Egypt Included in «First Bank» List of the Largest 100 Deposit taking Banks in the Arab World
A recent ranking issued by «First Bank» of the largest 100 banks in terms of customer deposits across the Arab world by the end of 2025 revealed the presence of 25 banks operating in the Egyptian market, including 12 locally branded Egyptian banks and 13 foreign banking subsidiaries operating in Egypt.
The ranking was based on banks’ disclosed customer deposit volumes as of year-end 2025, denominated in US dollars, providing a standardized comparison framework across financial institutions. Banks without official disclosed data were excluded to ensure accuracy and methodological reliability.
Egyptian Banks in the Ranking
The National Bank of Egypt ranked 7th regionally and 1st among Egyptian banks, with total deposits of 121.57 USD bn by the end of 2025.
Banque Misr ranked 13th regionally and 2nd domestically, with deposits of 63.49 USD bn.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt ranked 33rd regionally and 3rd among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 23.17 USD bn.
Arab African International Bank ranked 43rd regionally and 4th domestically, with deposits of 14.40 USD bn.
Banque du Caire ranked 62nd regionally and 6th among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 8.41 USD bn.
Suez Canal Bank ranked 76th regionally and 11th domestically, with deposits of 4.38 USD bn.
Faisal Islamic Bank ranked 80th regionally and 12th among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 4.10 USD bn.
Alexandria Bank ranked 82nd regionally and 13th domestically, with deposits of 3.89 USD bn.
Housing and Development Bank ranked 83rd regionally and 15th among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 3.76 USD bn.
Export Development Bank of Egypt ranked 89th regionally and 18th domestically, with deposits of 3.06 USD bn.
SAIB Bank ranked 91st regionally and 21st among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 2.95 USD bn.
Egyptian Gulf Bank ranked 96th regionally and 25th among Egyptian banks, with deposits of 2.24 USD bn.

Qatar National Bank Group topped the overall ranking with deposits of 261.4 USD bn, while its Egyptian subsidiary recorded 16.34 USD bn.
First Abu Dhabi Bank Group ranked 2nd regionally with 228.92 USD bn, with its Egyptian operations reaching 7.0 USD bn.
Emirates NBD Group ranked 3rd with 214.01 USD bn, while its Egypt branch recorded 3.56 USD bn.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank ranked 6th with 136.07 USD bn, and its Egypt subsidiary posted 3.15 USD bn.
National Bank of Kuwait Group ranked 11th with 84.65 USD bn, while its Egyptian arm recorded 3.77 USD bn.
Kuwait Finance House Group ranked 12th with 68.3 USD bn, with its Egypt operations at 2.96 USD bn.
Attijariwafa Bank Group ranked 16th with 57.81 USD bn, while its Egyptian subsidiary recorded 2.76 USD bn.
