Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Tuesday
The banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange closed at the end of trading on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, with a decline in its market capitalization by 1.57%, recording EGP 889.504 billion at the close of the session, compared to EGP 875.728 billion at the close of the previous session.
The banking sector accounted for 24.85% of the total market capitalization today, maintaining the highest share among all sectors listed on the exchange.
Trading value in banking sector stocks reached EGP 829.84 million, representing 8.22% of the total market turnover. Meanwhile, trading volume amounted to 12.94 million shares, accounting for 0.67% of the total market volume.
The Egyptian Exchange ended today’s session with a broad-based rise in its main indices, supported by net foreign buying of EGP 258.8 million.
The benchmark EGX30 index rose by 1.12% to 52,557 points, while the EGX70 index increased by 0.08% to 14,399 points, and the EGX100 index gained 0.18% to close at 20,008 points.
