4 Egyptian Banks Among the Fastest-Growing «Major Arab Banks» in Customer Deposits During 2025
A list published by «First Bank» of the fastest-growing major Arab banks in customer deposits during 2025 revealed the presence of four Egyptian banks.
«Banque Misr» ranked fifth among major Arab banks and first among Egyptian banks, with a growth rate of 29.2% over the past year. Its customer deposits increased to 63.5 USD bn by the end of 2025, compared to 49.13 USD bn at the end of 2024.
The «National Bank of Egypt» ranked tenth among major Arab banks and second among Egyptian banks, recording a growth rate of 24.5% over the past year. Its deposit portfolio reached 121.57 USD bn by the end of 2025, compared to 97.62 USD bn at the end of 2024.
The «Commercial International Bank – Egypt «CIB» ranked 13th among major Arab banks and third among Egyptian banks, as its customer deposits rose to 23.17 USD bn by the end of 2025, compared to 19.04 USD bn at the end of 2024.
The «Arab African International Bank» ranked 42nd among major Arab banks and fourth among Egyptian banks, after its deposit portfolio reached 14.4 USD bn by the end of 2025, compared to 13.21 USD bn at the end of 2024.
It is worth noting that the ranking included major Arab banks, defined by «First Bank» as banks with total assets exceeding 15 USD bn. The classification is based on ranking banks according to the growth rates of their asset portfolios denominated in US dollars, providing a unified comparison tool across different banking institutions. The ranking excluded banks for which official data were not available, to ensure accuracy and reliability of the methodology.
The classification also included parent banking groups across Arab countries and did not include their foreign subsidiaries.
