Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Tuesday
The banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on Tuesday , May 18, 2026, recording a increased in its market capitalization by 1.43%, reaching EGP 881.925 billion at the end of today’s session, compared to 869.533 the previous day’s closing.
The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 24.14% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange.
Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 707.476 million, representing 7.45% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 10.007 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.48% of the overall trading volume of the market.
The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s trading session on a collective rise across its main indices, amid foreign investors’ tendency toward buying, recording net purchases of EGP 258.8 million.
The main index “EGX30” rose by 1.48% to 52.774 points, while the “EGX70” index increased by 0.71% to 14.771 points, and the “EGX100” index increase by 0.72% to reach 20.579 points.
