Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thursday
The banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on Thursday , May 21, 2026, recording a increased in its market capitalization by 0.23%, reaching EGP 864.926billion at the end of today’s session, compared to 881.925 the previous day’s closing.
The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 23.80% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange.
Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 410.223 million, representing 6.07% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 6.972 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.44% of the overall trading volume of the market.
The Egyptian Stock Exchange closed today’s trading session with mixed performance, as the main index EGX30 rose, while the EGX70 index declined, and the EGX100 index increased. This came amid foreign investors’ tendency toward buying, recording a net purchase value of approximately EGP 258.8 million.
The main index “EGX30” increase by 0.30% to 52.090 points, while the “EGX70” index decreased by 0.15% to 14.3991points, and the “EGX100” index increase by 0.16% to reach 20.135 points.
