Al Rajhi Bank the World’s Largest Islamic Bank as of the end of March 2026
According to the latest First Bank rankings, Al Rajhi Bank has retained its position as the largest Islamic bank in the world as of March 2026.
The bank's total assets reached US$280.11 billion at the end of March 2026, up from US$278.15 billion at the end of 2025, representing a quarter-on-quarter growth rate of 0.7%.
The ranking was based on reported total assets, converted into U.S. dollars, providing a standardized basis for comparing Islamic banking institutions worldwide. Banks without officially disclosed financial data were excluded to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the methodology. The ranking covers parent banking groups across the Arab world and excludes their foreign subsidiaries.
Alongside its asset growth, Al Rajhi Bank delivered a strong financial performance during the current year. Its net profit increased to US$1.80 billion in the first quarter of 2026, compared with US$1.58 billion during the same period in 2025, reflecting a 14.4% year-on-year increase.
Income from financing and investments rose by 18.4%, reaching US$2.24 billion in the first quarter of 2026, compared with US$1.89 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Banking service fees also recorded solid growth, increasing to US$427.21 million during the first three months of 2026, compared with US$365.96 million in the same period of 2025, representing a 16.7% year-on-year increase.
Customer deposits expanded by 1.7% during the first quarter of 2026, reaching US$180.85 billion at the end of March 2026, compared with US$177.91 billion at the end of 2025.
The bank's net financing portfolio increased to US$200.83 billion by the end of March 2026, up slightly from US$200.69 billion at the end of 2025, reflecting a 0.1% quarter-on-quarter growth rate.
Meanwhile, shareholders’ equity rose to US$40.67 billion at the end of March 2026, compared with US$38.10 billion at the end of 2025, representing a 6.7% quarter-on-quarter increase.
