The «First Bank» list tracking the evolution of direct corporate lending portfolios among banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first quarter of 2026 revealed that «Emirates NBD» ranked first after jumping from 21st place in the 2025 ranking.

This was driven by a 26.8% growth in its direct corporate loan portfolio خلال the first three months of the year, reaching EGP 33.03 billion by the end of March 2026, compared to EGP 26.05 billion at the end of 2025. This reflects the bank’s accelerating expansion in corporate and large enterprise financing, as well as a stronger presence in this segment.

«ADCB» secured second place, advancing from 16th in the 2025 ranking, supported by a 26.1% increase in its direct corporate loan portfolio خلال the period تحت analysis, reaching EGP 42.52 billion by end-March 2026, compared to EGP 33.71 billion at end-2025.

Meanwhile, «United Bank» came in third, achieving the largest jump among the top three banks, advancing 17 positions compared to the 2025 ranking, where it was ranked 20th.

This was due to a 24.2% increase in its direct corporate loan portfolio during Q1 2026, reaching EGP 18.90 billion by the end of March, compared to EGP 15.22 billion at the end of 2025.

The «First Bank» list monitored the development of direct corporate loan portfolios across 24 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available. It showed that 22 banks achieved positive growth rates, while two banks recorded declines during Q1 2026.

The data also showed that four banks maintained their presence among the top 10 fastest-growing banks in direct corporate lending during both Q1 2026 and 2025: «Egypt-ADIB», «Suez Canal Bank», «CIB», and «ABK-Egypt».

In contrast, five new banks joined the top 10 list. «Emirates NBD» rose to first place from 21st in 2025, while «ADCB» moved up to second from 16th. «United Bank» entered the top 10, ranking third instead of 20th, while «HSBC» ranked sixth compared to last place in the 2025 ranking.

The Arab African International Bank advanced to eighth place from 22nd, in addition to the National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt, which ranked tenth compared to 23rd in the 2025 ranking.

At the sector level, the total direct corporate lending portfolio of 24 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector increased by 10.3% during the first quarter of 2026, reaching EGP 1.37 trillion by the end of March, compared to EGP 1.25 trillion at the end of 2025. Notably, 11 banks achieved growth rates exceeding this average.

Meanwhile, «CIB» (Commercial International Bank – Egypt) continued to solidify its position as the largest private-sector bank in Egypt in terms of direct corporate lending, with its portfolio exceeding EGP 286 billion by the end of March 2026, reflecting its ongoing leadership in corporate financing.

It is worth noting that all figures and growth rates المذكورة in the above analysis are based on the standalone financial statements announced by each bank as of the end of March 2026.
