«Attijariwafa-Egypt», «ADCB-Egypt» and «Al Baraka» Lead the Fastest-Growing Foreign Banks in Credit Card Balances Over the Past 5 Years

Strong Credit Card Business Drives Attijariwafa Bank Egypt to the Top of the Ranking
Credit card balances at 11 foreign banks reached 19.60 EGP bn, recording a CAGR of 31.05% over the past five years
Gulf-owned banks dominated the ranking, capturing the top five positions
Islamic banks secured two spots among the top five, out of 3 Islamic banks included in the ranking
First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing foreign banks operating in Egypt in terms of credit card balances over the past five years (end-2020 to end-2025) revealed Attijariwafa Bank Egypt as the top performer, posting a CAGR of 341.84%. The bank’s credit card balances increased to 729.16 EGP mn by the end of 2025, compared with 433 EGP thousand at the end of 2020.
«ADCB-Egypt» ranked second with a CAGR of 92.88% over the past five years, as its credit card balances rose to 731.70 EGP bn by the end of 2025, compared with 27.41 EGP bn at the end of 2020.
Al Baraka Bank Egypt secured third place with a CAGR of 78.33%, after its credit card portfolio increased to 468.52 EGP bn by the end of 2025, compared with 25.98 EGP bn at the end of 2020.
The First Bank ranking tracked the development of credit card balances at 11 foreign banks operating in Egypt for which financial statements were available, showing that all banks recorded positive average growth rates over the past 5 years.
At the level of Gulf-owned banks, the data showed complete dominance of the leading positions. «Attijariwafa-Egypt» ranked first, followed by «ADCB-Egypt» in second place, while «Al Baraka-Egypt» came third. «KFH-Egypt» ranked fourth, followed by «NBK-Egypt» in fifth place.
Among Islamic banks, two institutions secured positions within the top five out of the 3 Islamic banks included in the ranking: «ADIB-Egypt» and «Al Baraka-Egypt».
All figures and growth rates cited above are based on the standalone financial statements announced by each bank as of end-2025.
