CIB, RAKBANK top First Bank’s ROAA ranking of major Arab banks in Q1 2026

Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) topped First Bank’s ranking of return on average assets (ROAA) among major Arab banks, recording a return of 4.43 per cent in Q1 2026, supported by net profit of USD 325 million.

CIB held a clear lead over the other major Arab banks, reflecting strong efficiency in deploying its assets and generating returns from them.

The ranking tracks return on average assets (ROAA) among major Arab banks, defined by First Bank’s Rankings Centre as banks with total assets exceeding USD 15 billion.

Among the top 10 banks in the ranking, National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah (RAKBANK) ranked second, with ROAA of 3.80 per cent, supported by net profit of USD 274 million in Q1 2026.

Al Rajhi Bank ranked third, with ROAA of 2.58 per cent, after reporting net profit of USD 1.80 billion in the first three months of 2026.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) ranked fourth, with ROAA of 2.57 per cent, after recording net profit of USD 497 million during the period under review.

Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) ranked fifth, with ROAA of 2.37 per cent, supported by net profit of USD 101 million in Q1 2026.

Emirates Islamic ranked sixth, with ROAA of about 2.30 per cent, after reporting net profit of about USD 231 million in the first three months of 2026.

Mashreq ranked seventh, with ROAA of 2.27 per cent, supported by net profit of USD 525 million in Q1 2026.

Emirates NBD ranked eighth, with ROAA of 2.15 per cent, supported by net profit of USD 1.75 billion during the period under review.

Alinma Bank ranked ninth, with ROAA of 2.113 per cent, after reporting net profit of USD 447 million in Q1 2026.

Saudi National Bank (SNB) ranked 10th, with ROAA of 2.108 per cent, supported by net profit of USD 1.71 billion in Q1 2026.

The ranking included parent banking groups across Arab countries and excluded their foreign banking subsidiaries.

Banks without official Q1 2026 data were excluded from the ranking to ensure the accuracy of the results and the reliability of the methodology.
