Al Baraka, Suez Canal Bank lead personal loans growth over 3 years
Al Baraka tops the ranking, reflecting the growing importance of personal loans within its loan portfolio
Islamic banks secure strong representation, with three of the four included in the ranking placing among the top 10
Eleven of 24 banks exceed the three-year average CAGR of 26.28%
First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by personal loans over the past three years, specifically from end-2022 to end-2025, revealed notable differences in the pace of expansion across banks.
Al Baraka Bank Egypt topped the ranking after recording the highest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the period.
Al Baraka Bank Egypt’s personal loan portfolio recorded a CAGR of 67.42 per cent over the past three years, rising to EGP 17.56bn at end-2025 from EGP 3.74bn at end-2022, reflecting the growing importance of personal loan within its overall loan portfolio.
Suez Canal Bank ranked second, with its personal loan portfolio recording a CAGR of 63.26 per cent, rising to EGP 11.29bn at end-2025 from EGP 2.60bn at end-2022.
Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH-Egypt) ranked third, recording a CAGR of 56.65 per cent over the past three years. Its personal loan portfolio increased to EGP 7.97bn at end-2025 from EGP 2.07bn at end-2022, placing it among the banks that recorded the strongest expansion in this segment.
First Bank’s ranking tracked the development of personal loan portfolios at 24 banks operating in Egypt’s banking sector for which the necessary financial data were available over the period under review, from 2022 to 2025. The results showed that 23 banks recorded positive compound annual growth rates, while only one bank registered a decline.
The top 11 banks in the ranking exceeded the average CAGR of 26.28 per cent recorded by the 24 banks under review over the past three years, while the remaining banks posted growth rates below the average during the same period.
Islamic banks recorded strong representation in the ranking, with three of the four included securing places among the 10 fastest-growing banks.
Al Baraka Bank Egypt led the ranking in first place, followed by KFH-Egypt in third and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) in fourth, reflecting their prominent presence and competitive standing among the leading banks in this segment.
