Egyptian pound rises against foreign currencies since the beginning of this week
EGP index witnessed a successive rise since the beginning of this week until yesterday, Tuesday, as it rose against a basket of currencies by 0.192 points during the past three days, according to the official prices of the average market prices for foreign currencies.
The value of EGP index rose to 52.929 points at the end of trading on Tuesday, compared to 52.737 points at the end of trading on Sunday, April 31st.
The rise in the performance of EGP is the opposite of the common situation, which confirms the decline in the performance of the pound at the current time, but the official figures proved the opposite.
This came due to the decline of 3 major currencies, as Euro, Pound sterling, and Japanese yen all fell.
The average selling price of Euro in Egypt decreased by 16 Egyptian piasters since the beginning of this week, dropping from 34.10 pounds on Sunday to 33.94 pounds on Tuesday, while the average purchase price fell from 33.98 pounds to 33.82 pounds.
The average selling price of Pound Sterling in Egypt decreased by 29 Egyptian piasters since the beginning of this week, from 38.90 pounds on Sunday to 38.61 pounds on Tuesday, while the average buying price fell from 38.76 pounds to 38.48 pounds.
The average selling price of Japanese yen in Egypt decreased by 18 Egyptian piasters since the beginning of this week, dropping from 22.70 pounds on Sunday to 22.52 pounds on Tuesday, while the average buying price fell from 22.62 pounds to 22.44 pounds.
The average selling price of US dollar, Chinese yuan, Saudi riyal, and UAE dirham stabilized, as the dollar settled at 30.93 pounds for sale and 30.83 pounds for purchase, while Chinese yuan settled at 4.47 pounds for sale and 4.46 pounds for purchase.
Saudi riyal settled at 8.24 pounds for sale, and 8.22 pounds for purchase, while the UAE dirham settled at 8.42 pounds for sale, and 8.39 pounds for purchase during the first 3 days of this week.
