The separate financial statements of Emirates NBD - Egypt, which ended on December 31, 2022, revealed that the bank’s total assets grew by 22.23% over the past year, to record EGP100.9 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP82.6 bn by the end of 2021, and an increase of EGP18.4 bn.

By monitoring the bank’s investment trends during the past year, we found that it is still tend to employ its money in granting loans at the expense of financial investments, despite the significant decline in the relative weight of loans at the end of December 2022, compared to December 2021, financial investments witnessed a noticeable decline in their relative weight of Total asset portfolio at the end of last December.

Loan portfolio obtained the largest share, as it acquired a relative weight of 42.51% of the bank’s total assets at the end of December 2022, compared to 47.27% at the end of December 2021, bringing net portfolio of loans and facilities to customers and banks at a growth rate of 9.92% over the past year, recording EGP42.9bn, at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP39.03 bn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP3.9 bn.

The relative weight of total financial investment portfolio witnessed a noticeable decline, ranked second in the bank’s investment trends, as it acquired 27.93% of the bank’s total assets at the end of December 2022, compared to 34.35% at the end of December 2021, bringing total portfolio to EGP 28.2 bn by the end of December 2022. compared to EGP28.4 bn at the end of December 2021, recording a decline of 0.60% over the past year.

Total balances with banks constituted the third largest component of assets portfolio, as it obtained a relative weight of 17.82% of the bank’s total assets at the end of December 2022, compared to 9.02% at the end of 2021, so that total balances with banks jumped by 141.48% over the past year, recording EGP 18 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 7.5 bn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP 10.5 bn.

Cash and balances with CBE got fourth largest percentage of the bank’s total assets at 9.57% at the end of December 2022, compared to 6.88% at the end of December 2021, after its total value recorded EGP 9.7 bn
